Mind
Over Music for Guitar
Just
10 minutes a day to become a great guitarist ...... without even touching
a guitar!
Every
song ever written started out as an idea in somebody’s head. It existed
as an idea first. A simple thought.
-
You
have the ability to hum a tune in your head
-
You
have the ability to form sentences in your head before you speak
-
You
have the ability to dream
-
You
have the ability to picture a day at the beach before you even leave
your home to go there
-
You
have the ability to rehearse things in your head before you do the
activity. It’s called planning. And as the saying goes "if you
fail to plan – you plan to fail".
Try
it right now…
Imagine
you’re sitting at a table and in front of you are three pieces of fruit.
An apple, an orange and a banana. You should be able to picture them in
your minds eye right now.
The
yellow piece of fruit is a banana right?.....How do we know this? I dare
say that when you were growing up, your parents pointed to a banana and
said "that’s a banana, bananas are yellow".
As
a child you put that bit of information in your memory and attached a
label to it. This is called remembering and labelling. You have the
ability to do this.
This
ability has been scientifically measured, by monitoring cerebral blood
flow. When people are remembering they show activity in the left posterior
dorsolateral frontal cortex, a part of the brain than is involved in
conditional associative learning. – A fancy name for ‘putting labels
on things’.
The
colour of something is very important for humans especially when it comes
to food. With our banana we know that banana = yellow = good to eat.
At
some point we also learned that banana = green = not so good to eat =
tummy ache = don’t do that again. This is a fundamental law of learning
and it’s called remembering and labelling.
Remembering
Music.
Let’s
go back to our table. You’re sitting at the table looking at the three
pieces of fruit when you hear the doorbell ring. What is your first
thought?....Someone’s at the door, right. You have remembered that
doorbell = someone’s at the door.
Now
if you picture the same scene, but, instead of you sitting at the table
there is a great musician. The doorbell rings again. The great musician
thinks like this doorbell = a flat = someone’s at the door.
So
the great musician hears the doorbell and automatically recognises the
pitch of the sound. This is an automatic function of his memory as he has
remembered and labelled the pitch.
Remembering
and labelling – you have the ability to do this.
Researcher
Daniel J Levitin PhD conducted an experiment with college students to
prove this point. He simply asked them to sing their favourite rock song
from memory. And none of the group were singers.
He
wanted to see how good their pitch memory was. He used rock songs because
generally everyone knows the same version of the song. People have heard
the song hundreds or thousands of times on the radio in the same key.
Also
they learned the song by themselves so it was already in their memories
– they didn’t have to sit down and learn a song and then try and
reproduce it.
Most
of the students were able to sing at or very near the pitch of the
original song. One quarter of them sang within one semitone of the correct
pitch and the rest came within 2 semitones.
This
provides strong evidence that non-musicians
can remember sounds at their correct pitch. Although they don't
know the formal note names, they did show the ability to use labels.
They
might not be able to sing an A-sharp on demand, but they were able to
skilfully give other informal names such as "that’s the first note
to Hotel California"
In
another study, Tonya Bergeson and Sandra Trehub of the University of
Toronto asked mothers to sing songs to their babies on two separate
occasions, a week apart.
Almost
half the mothers sang in the same key both times ... giving more
evidence for the ability of pitch memory.
Even
without the scientific study, there’s that old radio show, secret sound.
You know the one where they play a secret sound and people ring in to try
and guess the sound and win a prize?
It
all comes back to the fundamental law of remembering and labelling.
You
have the ability to do it.
10
Minutes a Day to Become a Great Guitarist
So,
if you have the ability to remember sounds and label them, how do you use
this ability to become a great guitarist, without even touching a guitar?
... and accomplish this great feat all in 10 minutes a day? Read on and
find out.
A
study was done at the Royal College of Music in London. The study was
called Zoning In.
The
idea was to design a program of mental training that drew on sports
psychology techniques to improve musical ability and performance. You see,
they have been using mental skills training in sports for a long time.
Top
athletes rely on rehearsing their sport in their heads
before they compete. Chuck Norris the Karate expert said it was this
technique of mental rehearsal that got him to the top of the
martial arts world.
What
the students wanted most was to be able to learn music quickly and to
save time. The results speak for themselves.
The
most useful technique was mental rehearsal, specifically mental
practise of the idea or actual performance. Mental rehearsal was
used to correct and rehearse specific techniques for developing musical
memory. And for practising technical pieces in the music.
Relaxation
was also rated an extremely useful technique and was often applied for
general well being outside of the music.
They
used the mental rehearsal techniques when they had a piece to learn
quickly and did not have access to their instruments, and did not have
enough time to practice.
The
students who benefited most used the mental training whenever and wherever
they could. They didn’t need a special time or place to use them.
Instead
they used the techniques on public transport, walking in the park, eating
lunch or standing in the shower.
The
typical time spent on relaxation or mental rehearsal was between 5 – 20
minutes.
At
the end of the study the students reported improved learning and playing
from memory through mental rehearsal.
They
became more efficient and focused. They became more
interested in the music. They gained clarity of mind, complete focus on
the music and a heightened sensory awareness.
The
students in the above example were already accomplished musicians before
they took part in the study. What I want you to get out of this is that
there are two parts to music: the physical and the mental. And by
recognising this fact and applying it you will become a great guitarist in
half the time or less of somebody who has only learnt the physical side of
guitar.
Did
you get the part where the music students said it took between 5 – 20
minutes a day to massively benefit from mental rehearsal?
Do
you think you could find 10 minutes a day and become a great guitarist
without even touching a guitar?
Did
you know that Einstein’s theory of relativity (E=MC2) was based on
music? When asked about the origins of his theory Einstein stated ‘It
occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that
intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception’.
Did
you also know that Einstein’s equation tells us that all matter is
energy? Physicists have proven that everything that appears solid is
actually made of swirling molecules temporarily moulded in their current
shapes. Everything on earth breaks down into sub-atomic particles of
energy. And music was the driving force behind that discovery.
Most
Guitar Practise Is Wasted Effort.
Let’s
re-cap. We have seen that it is a fundamental law that enables people to memorise
and label things. You have the ability to do this.
We
can all sing our favourite rock songs close to the key they were written
in. You have the ability to do this.
And
all it takes is 5 – 20 minutes a day in order to benefit from mental
rehearsal techniques. You have the ability to find 10 minutes a day.
You
may have heard of the Pareto Principle, or, as it is commonly
known, the 80/20 rule.
In
1906 an Italian economist named Vilifredo Pareto came up with a formula to
describe the distribution of wealth in Italy.
He
observed that 20% of the people owned 80% of the money. After he made this
observation, many others observed similar things happening in their own
areas of expertise.
Dr
Joseph Juran recognised a universal principle he called ‘vital few and
trivial many’. This means that 20% of something is always responsible
for 80% of the results.
It’s
the same thing when it comes to playing guitar.
Why
lose your time on boring exercises and learning songs that you don’t
even like and will never play again?
By
learning guitar the old way that’s what’s going to happen. You’re
going to lose you’re time. You’re also going to lose your money paying
for lessons that do nothing more than frustrate you. You need to focus
on the 20% that matters most. The 20% that will elevate your
musicianship to a whole new level. Why be part of the 80% who struggle
when you can just as easily be part of the 20% who soar.
Putting
It All Together
I
don’t know about you, but I like to get things done quickly and easily
with the minimum of fuss in the shortest amount of time while achieving
the best results possible.
I
also love playing guitar.
So,
I created Mind Over Music For Guitar.
I
used the principal of remembering and labelling in a step by step sequence
which effortlessly guides you through each chord and lets you instantly
name that chord when you hear it in your favourite songs.
No
more going though songbooks or downloading songs off the internet.
You
will be able to hear the songs from the radio or CD and instantly know
what chords are being played.
Even
if you have never picked up a guitar, you can benefit. By recognising that
there are 2 approaches (physical & mental) you will quickly understand
the principles of music. And most importantly you will be able to
recognise chords as soon as you hear them. You don’t need to be able to
play a guitar to do this; you just need a pair of ears and a brain.
A
lot of time is wasted as a beginner because you are focussing on getting
your hands right:- the physical side of playing guitar.
Don’t
get me wrong, you will have to practise the physical component as well.
The good news is that it will be much easier once you have the mental
rehearsal techniques that put the music into your head.
Remember
that time is the one thing that you can't get more of. You can get more
money, you can get more food, more guitars, a better car etc. But you can
never get more time. So don't waste it.
Organize
yourself so that you make the most of your time.
Mind
Over Music For Guitar was created so that you can best use the
time you spend away from your guitar. You will massively benefit and
become a better player if you recognize and use your "spare
time" by listening to these CD's.
Spend
the time on the most important things.
Remember
20% of your efforts produce 80% of your results. Mind
Over Music For Guitar gives you only the most effective aspects of
music to practise.
You
don’t need any special skills or equipment to get started – just a CD
or MP3 player. Put the first CD in and you will hit the ground running.
The
best part is it only takes 10 minutes a day.
Can
you find 10 minutes a day?
Three
Things You Need to Become a Great Guitarist
You
Need Confidence.
You
need the ability to recognize the chords being played in order to be able
to jam with other musicians. Once you can do this your confidence level
will soar. You will then seek out others to jam with and by doing this you
will be exposed to other peoples styles and influences and your
musicianship will grow at an astounding rate.
Mind
Over Music For Guitar gave you that confidence.
You
need Motivation.
All
throughout history the biggest winners – the most famous movie stars and
rock stars, the richest men and women all have one thing in common. They
continued to motivate themselves until they reached their goals.
Napoleon
Bonaparte said it best, ‘Victory belongs to the most persevering’.
The
success and happiness we achieve in life come from the actions that we
take. What matters most is our consistent action, our habits, which more
than anything else determine the direction and success of our lives.
In
order to create successful habits you need to start with a goal (a dream).
Then you must organise yourself to reach that goal.
You
must start an action plan that requires you to do at least one thing each
day which brings you closer to your dream. Don’t forget that it is
action that brings dreams into reality. Do something each day. Habit is
nothing more than repeated behaviour.
By
listening to Mind Over Music For Guitar for
10 minutes a day you are creating the habit of success. It will propel you
forward towards your goal of becoming a great guitarist. It is not only a
great learning tool it is a vehicle for motivation.
You
need an Edge.
You
need something that will set you apart from others. Just by reading this
article I hope you see that the edge needed in guitar playing is realising
that there is a mental side to music.
The
edge over the competition in sports has always been the focus of mind of
the competitors. The ability to stay ‘in the zone’.
By
using the techniques given in Mind Over Music For
Guitar you will naturally and effortlessly be creating an edge
over other musicians.
It
will take your playing ability to a whole new level. You will improve at
light speed
Read
This Or Go Broke.
You’re
being fattened up for the kill.
Ruthless
music teachers are taking your hard earned money week after week and you’re
not seeing any great improvement in your playing ability.
Want
to know why?..............
They
may tell you something like "It takes a lot of time and practise to
become a good guitar player".
What
a load of rubbish.
Bottom
line is they need your money to survive. All they care about is your
money.
They
need you to come back, week after week. They have no reason for you to
improve quickly. They dish out boring exercises that frustrate and slow
you down. They also charge you $30 a lesson for the privilege. That adds
up to $120 a month if you go once a week. And that becomes $1440 a year. What
a rip off.
Guitar
playing is meant to be fun after all, that’s why they call it
"playing". When you "play" you have fun.
8
out of 10 guitar teachers want this system banned. I have approached over
100 guitar teachers with this product to see if they would like to offer
it to their students. The bottom line is that 80% of them said no. They
want it banned as it is a threat to their existence. If you found out
about Mind Over Music For Guitar through
your guitar teachers newsletter, then stick to them like glue. They have
your best interests at heart. They know that a true achiever will do
whatever it takes to improve their playing ability.
Mind
Over Music For Guitar specialises in the mental side of
playing.
Mind
Over Music For Guitar puts the music in your head.
It
will make you a better musician with less effort.
Even
if you are totally satisfied with your guitar teacher, you can still
progress in leaps and bounds by using these simple mental rehearsal
techniques.
Mind
Over Music For Guitar pinpoints the reasons why the truly great
guitarists are so good.
That
is because they hear and understand the music. They know the
formula.
They
hear a chord and immediately know what it is. Then, in a split second,
they know what scales to play over the chord to create a melody or lead
line.
They
weren’t born with that talent, that’s for sure. They acquired it
through years of hard work and determination. Mind
Over Music For Guitar will cut that time in half.
I
have recorded each chord in isolation, so that it puts the sounds in your
head, you naturally remember them and attach the correct labels to them.
All
you have to do is spend 10 minutes a day listening to the CD’s in your
spare time and your knowledge will explode.
As
I pointed out before, sports stars have been doing this mental rehearsal
for ages. They know that to be the best, they continually use these
techniques to give them the edge.
The
Best Addiction.
Guitar
playing is addictive. Once you start you won’t stop. It is something you
will do for the rest of your life.
So
do yourself a favour and order Mind Over Music For
Guitar and get good fast.
It’s
much more enjoyable when you can actually play the thing properly.
Not to mention the wow factor ...
Everyone
loves a guitar player!
You
will have the admiration of friends, family and strangers once you start
to play.
Not
to mention the feeling of self esteem that comes with accomplishing a
goal.
It
sounds weird but you become more approachable to the opposite sex as they
now have an opening to start a conversation with you. You can also amaze
other guitarists by simply naming the chords you hear on the radio.
You
will have a definite edge over other guitar players when you order
Mind Over Music For Guitar.
Mind
Over Music For Guitar is totally portable as well. Just load the
CD's onto your MP3 player and take it anywhere. You are not chained to
your computer. Instead of just staring out the window, use your traveling
time to improve your guitar playing. When you get out into the great
outdoors or go to the beach you can improve your guitar playing by
listening to Mind Over Music For Guitar.
You
will never be bored again as any spare time can be used to improve your
guitar playing.
The
system is portable and easy to use. No big manuals or thick instruction
books. Simply plug in your CD player and away you go.
It
will be the best money you ever spend as you will be handed a skill that
fast tracks your success.
But
don't just take our word for it. See what others have to say ...
